How is the due date calculated?

The calculator uses Naegele's rule: it adds 280 days (40 weeks) to the first day of your last period, adjusting the date if your cycle is longer or shorter than 28 days.

The date is an estimate, and fewer than 5% of babies are born on their exact due date. Always follow up with your doctor or midwife.
